Daily Rant: Commissioned Art Work from BC

Alright so I must share my feelings on this issue because it has been swirling around in my head for a little while.....

WHEN commissioned to do a piece of art work for a company or artist ( in which the artist is paying for the work being done)there is NO reason to put your title, name, or mark on the piece of work unless you are asked to do so as a vendor.

Example: When an artist supplies an original drawing, sketch, computer graphic design, ect. for production to a vendor it should be understood that this is the artist's original work and not that of the company who has been commissioned to create a model/ 3D figure/ ECT. If the artist asks for the vendor's mark on the piece than that should be the only time the vendor's name is on the work (it should not be assumed that the artist wants the vendor's name on his or her's product.)

It is very disheartening to see a vendor's name etched into a piece of work that they did not design and that the artist plans to sell in there own venue. (Everyone see the problem with this?)

As a designer for a jewelry company that services major brands I sign over my rights to pieces I have designed and have enough respect and understanding for the business to know NOT to sign my name to product!!!!

BC Jewelry reserves the right to refuse payment, terminate contract, expect full or partial refund, demand piece be altered or fixed to specifications first desired at time of design conception and meeting.

Thank you. <3
